Pennsylvania transitioned from Healthcare.gov (federal exchange) to Pennie.com (PA state exchange) on January 1st, 2021 for individual health insurance for Pennsylvania residents. Advanced Premium Tax Credits (APTC) may be available depending on household size and total expected household income.

We are Pennie-Certified Brokers and help people through the entire process of entering data, evaluating plans, and enrolling in coverage through Pennie.com. If the household size and income are higher than the income threshold for the Advanced Premium Tax Credits, we also assist and enroll people directly with the individual health insurance carriers. 

 

The Open Enrollment Period generally is November 1st – December 15th for January 1st effective date of coverage.  Outside of the Open Enrollment Period, you usually can only sign up for coverage if you have a Special Election Period (SEP) such as losing employer coverage.  However, Pennie.com has COVID-19 Relief Enrollment Period which is February 15th, 2021 – August 15th, 2021 where someone can apply as well.
